Creating a new theme
If you want to, you can create a new custom theme to change the way Searching displays. When you create a new theme, you must specify the CSS file that the theme will use to define how the elements in Searching appear. To create the custom CSS file, you will need to use CSS or text editing software to specify the styles.
|
SirsiDynix does not support any new themes that you create or any changes made to the CSS files for pre-designed themes provided with Portfolio, nor does it provide specific instruction on how to create or modify CSS files. |
When you create a new theme, you must specify unique values for some fields. If you enter information for a new theme that is currently being used for another theme, the software highlights the field where the non-unique value appears and displays an error message indicating that the value is already being used by another theme and that the information you enter must be unique to the new theme.
|
If necessary, you can also use the “@import” rule within the CSS file to import style rules from other stylesheets. |
After you have created a new theme, you need to associate it with a search profile in order to see your theme applied in Searching.
To create a new theme
- Log in to the Admin console.
- Choose Themes from the navigation pane.
- Choose Add Theme.
- Complete the fields, as necessary. For more information, see Fields: Add/Edit Theme.
- Choose OK to save your changes, or choose Cancel to discard your changes and return to Themes.
-
To associate the theme with a search profile, edit the custom page elements for the search profile to specify the new theme. For more information, see Changing the custom page elements for a search profile.
You can preview how your new theme will look in Searching by choosing Preview on the Configure Custom Page Elements page.
-
Verify that your theme has been successfully associated with this search profile and that it displays Searching elements accordingly.
You can preview how your search profile will look in Searching by clicking the URL for the search profile on the Profiles page.
